Arch-Tekton was established in 1987 with the aim of becoming a prominent role player in the Bloemfontein and Free State’s domestic architectural environment. Arch-Tekton’s name aptly originates from a combination of the Greek root ‘arch’, meaning ‘chief’, and ‘tekton’, meaning ‘builder’. This is also the root of the word ‘architect/ure’. We are confident that both our name and our service continue to live up to the reputation established 20 years ago. With our main practice quite centrally based in Bloemfontein, we now have satelite offices in Pietermaritzburg and in Vereeniging, putting us in a position where we can do ANY BUILDING, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME within the borders of South-Africa.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Our design philosophy focuses on the unique needs of the client. We encourage the client to use our expertise and experience to design their ideal building. While we are proud of our unique sense of innovation, we do not indulge in experimental, extreme or trend-setting architecture at the expense of our client. Rather, we aim to pair the client’s vision with our professional guidance and creative suggestions so that the result is a building that is fully functional, budget-friendly, fulfilling of the client’s expectations and suitable to their lifestyle, while never negotiating on architectural and aesthetic excellence.
EMPLOYMENT POLICY
Arch-Tekton’s employment policy is based on the firm’s structure as a partnership practice with two permanent registered architectural professionals. These partners are responsible for the employment of architects, draughtsmen, students, survey assistants and administrative personnel on a part-time or contractual basis, as and when required. When necessary, Arch-Tekton may outsource and contract related disciplines in the building industry to assist with specialist services.
